Mining Projects Trigger Economic Benefits for the Stuart Nechako Region Communities
Thompson Creek Metals Company Inc. is in the process of completing an expansion of their Endako Mine operations and has started the construction of a new mining project on at Mount Milligan between Fort St. James and Mackenzie. The Mount Milligan Project is expected to be operating in 2013.
New Gold Inc. has recently made announcements that their is strong potential for a mining operation to be constructed and operational on their Blackwater properties south of Vanderhoof as early as 2017.
With a balance of well established mining operations and new opportunities on the horizon, the Stuart Nechako Region is positioned to realize substantial economic benefit from Mining activity. It is anticipated new employment and business opportunities for commmunities will result from growth in the Mining Sector in this decade.
