Thank you to Keith Federink, George Winters and Mickey Bisanz of Community Futures for two computers presented on Monday, March 16, 2009 to the Board and the Residents of ‘Senior Citizens to the Silver Birch Lodge’.
With the computers the seniors will be able to join today’s technological world. This is a major step forward for most of the residents and with the help of Fraser Lake Public Library’s librarian Audrey Fennema, our seniors will soon learn the basics of the computer and be able to use them comfortably.
It is the intent of the board to purchase a ‘Web-cam with microphone’ to help our seniors communicate with family and friends who reside miles away. All 23 units are full at the lodge and many of the residents are interested and looking forward to their new learning experience.
Thank you to Past-President Dwayne Lindstrom for initiating the idea. It was through his search for funding for computers that Community Futures stepped forward and offered to supply the Lodge with two computers.
We would also like to thank the Fraser Lake Legion Branch #274 for their donation of two wireless headsets and microphones for the computers.
