Fraser Lake Wharf, British Columbia
The Fraser Lake Wharf Reconstruction project restores lake access for area residents and tourists from the site adjacent to the public park at the town and creates opportunities for recreational fishing and boating.
Restoration of this key public infrastructure will create five direct jobs and position businesses based in Fraser Lake to attract tourism spending that would otherwise have passed by the community.
The $605,350 project was initiated in June 2004. The Village of Fraser Lake received $245,850 towards the costs of reconstructing the historic public wharf through the Softwood Industry Community Economic Adjustment Initiative (SICEAI) administered by Community Futures Stuart Nechako.
Past Mayor Bob Thon explained at the time, “This new wharf adds an important asset that our community has to offer for recreation and tourism in the region”.
